Pre-Washing: The Secret to Extra Clean Hair!

How many times have you read the back of your shampoo and seen "Lather, Rinse and Repeat" in the directions? I've been reading that word for years, and it was only recently that I was finally convinced to give it a try, and wash my hair again. Because, I'm a fairly clever mama. I know when a brand is just trying to get me to wash twice so I use more product and have to buy more often, right? I can see right through that ploy!

And do you know what happened when I started washing my hair twice? I ended up using less product. Don't roll your eyes. It's a thing. Stay with me here, and I'll take you on my journey to cleaner hair, while magically using less shampoo!

When shampooing, more is more, right? It's not like blush or perfume where less might be more. A big old glob of shampoo slapped on your head is obviously the best way to get all those glorious suds! Except...it's not. It turns out that with shampoo, like most of your favourite bath and body products, less actually is more. For the cleanest, sudsiest wash you've ever experienced, here's what you need to do:

1. Pre-Wash. Like at the car wash, you want to give your hair a quick once-over. Wet it, and add just a little bit of your Beauty From Bees Shampoo and Body Wash - I use about a dime. Scrub, focussing on those roots, and rinse. Does this suds up gloriously? No. Do I feel clean after? Also, no. Have I removed that top layer of grime and product, leaving myself with access to the deeper gunk that's built up on my roots and scalp? Why, yes. Yes I have.

2. Wash it as usual, but use less. Because you've already removed the top layer of ick, you actually need less shampoo. For this scrub, I use about a quarter sized glob. Obviously this will totally depend on your hair thickness and length, but I don't find I need as much as I think I do! This is your magic wash. This wash will be ridiculously, gloriously, wonderfully sudsy. You'll have the bubbles to make that unicorn horn of hair. You'll have a foam party in your scalp. Scrub, enjoy the experience, and rinse. With all the foam I get here, I find this the perfect time to take advantage of the Body Wash feature of my Beauty From Bees Shampoo!

3. Condition. Your hair is now as clean as can be, and it's time to moisturize and protect! Add your favourite Beauty From Bees Conditioner, and get that super scrubbed hair hydrated and feeling soft as can be!

Cleaner hair, with less product than you'd imagine. It turns out that Repeat was less of a sales scam than it was an honest attempt to help us get our cleanest hair possible! Anyone else now wondering what other label "suggestions" we should also be following? Hang to dry? Wash with like-colours only? Best before dates...? I think I'll start by being happy with my clean hair, and work on implementing the rest!
