Hair Washing 101

Hair Washing 101

You know those posts on Facebook that are all about "I was today years old when I learned..." how to do some meaningless task that has suddenly changed your life? Maybe it's how to fold a cereal box inside on itself so it doesn't go stale. Maybe it's how they colour code the clips on bread bags so you know which one is the freshest. And maybe today, it's how to properly wash and condition your hair.

Welcome, friends, to Hair Washing 101, where we will discuss the ins and outs of the rinse and repeat, entering a world of hair so healthy and clean, it shines.

Now, you've probably been washing your hair by yourself since your early elementary days, and you're probably pretty set in your ways by now. But read on, find some tips, and maybe you'll change your shower routine for the better!

Step 1: Shampoo, Round One!
Shampooing is obviously a vital step in the hair washing game, but it's not just about a quick scrub and walking away. Shampooing is like weekend breakfast - once is great, but it's the round two that really changes the game. For your first shampoo round, wet that hair, add about a quarter sized dollop of shampoo to your hand, and scrub that into your scalp. You won't see huge lather here, but this round is all about loosening the grime, build up product, and whatever else is caked onto your hair and scalp. Trust the process, friends. Great things are coming. Give that head a good scrub, and rinse.

Step 2: Do It Again!
If you've spent any time following this brand, you'll know how we feel about the Pre-Wash, which is what you just accomplished. Where Round One is all about loosing scalp nasties, Round Two is all about the lather. Add about a Loonie sized squirt of Shampoo to your hands, and lather that into your hair, roots to tips. This is where you'll get that foamy goodness you've been craving! If you're using our new Purple Shampoo, let this soak in for a few minutes, toning those brassy shades back to the blonde you love! The longer you let it sit, the more toned your blondes and greys will be. Rinse that foam away, and you're ready for step three!

Step 3: Condition
There are some who believe that Conditioner is just for your tips, and we're here to stand against that. Your whole strand deserves that silky softness, doesn't it? Give yourself about a Loonie sized dollop of conditioner, and work that through your hair. Where we focus Shampoo on our roots, we want to focus Conditioner on the hair itself. Gently use your fingers or a wide-toothed comb, and work your Conditioner into your locks, without scrubbing it into your roots. Comb it through, give it a minute to work its magic, and rinse thoroughly. Soft hair is suddenly yours.

Step 4: The Bonus Round
New to the Beauty From Bees lineup is our CALM Deep Conditioning Treatment. This powerful product will have your hair looking, feeling, and smelling its very best! Take a small squirt (I use about a dime) and gently work it into just the ends of your hair, avoiding the roots completely. I like to work this from about my ears down, just into the driest, most damaged parts of my hair. Give it a few minutes to do it's thing, and then rinse again. This Deep Conditioning Treatment leaves my tips so soft and manageable, without any of the harsh chemicals that are often found in other hair masks and treatments!

And that brings us to the end of our Hair Washing lecture, today! To sum it up, Lather, Rinse, REPEAT. Condition, Rinse, TREAT! Your hair will thank you, we promise!
